Matthew 4:17 NKJV From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Matthew 4:23 NKJV And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.
Matthew 9:35 NKJV Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
Matthew 10:7-8 NKJV And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.
Anyone see a pattern above? Hmmm.....
So what did Jesus preach about? It says above He preached about the Kingdom of Heaven. I realize that I've made many references to the kingdom of heaven thus far. It is so important to me right now as it is opening the doors to fresh revelation and allowing me to have a greater understanding all things pertaining to God and faith.
I was reading this morning in Matthew 13 and it comes up over and over in this passage "...the kingdom of heaven is like..." Clearly Jesus is preaching the kingdom. He is, through these parables, showing us the facets of what it is like to operate in the kingdom and how the kingdom operates.
As I have been spending time meditating on the kingdom of heaven, I have to admit that I have been able to see principles in the Word from a new perspective. Subjects like walking in love and being a doer of the Word are getting connected in a way that they have not been before. I find it easier to simply say, "Ok, the Word says it, I believe it, that settles it."
Today, I am simply pointing out the importance that spending time in this area is playing in my life. I want to know the king of my kingdom more intimately. I am reading in the Gospels more intently with ears to hear what my King Jesus said as it is recorded. I am placing a value on the red letters like I have never done before. In them is life and freedom.
