Matthew 12:34b NKJV For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
Mark 11:23-24 NKJV For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
So what will you say when you get pressed? I was talking with a brother tonight and he was sharing with me how challenging the last month has been. He had one of those mountaintop experiences a month ago - one that you would expect to ride the wave off of for a while - but he admitted that it has been challenging. But, I know my brother and I know that he is speaking to those circumstances and he knows that he is more than a conqueror. No matter what is coming at him, he is pressing forward with the truth of the Word versus what may be true about the circumstance.
In our family, we were presented a circumstance over the last 24 hours. The thing that I've noticed this time versus other situations we've faced in the past is that the initial report didn't have anywhere near the impact it has previously. We have developed to a point where faith is a more constant "pressing forward" in our lives. When the circumstance pressed back at us, it was met with a great deal of force of the Word of God moving in the opposite direction. It has had little to no impact. James 4:7 says "Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you." As we resisted his attempt he has fled.
The pressing forward is the speaking of what is in our heart in abundance. I sense myself pausing to hear from my spirit man and scripture upon scripture is brought to memory to deal with the situation. I may be impressed to pray in the spirit and shortly thereafter another scripture will pop up. I take that scripture, confess it over the situation and thank God for His faithfulness. In this we find ourselves speaking to the mountain and believing that we receive.
Having said all this we stand fast and give thanksgiving to the Lord for the victory. Knowing that an open show will be made of the attempt that was made to destroy. God will get the glory for the display of His power and the fulfillment of His promises and it will lead to hundreds and thousands of changed lives in the wake of the testimony.
I close with a line from one of my favorite movies. "So, tell me what is impossible with God. Nothing, Coach!"
