Psalm 28:7-9 NLT
7 The Lord is my strength and shield.
I trust him with all my heart.
He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.
I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.
8 The Lord gives his people strength.
He is a safe fortress for his anointed king.
9 Save your people!
Bless Israel, your special possession.
Lead them like a shepherd,
and carry them in your arms forever
Man, what a difference a day makes!
So as I mentioned I was going to do in my last entry, I tuned into a message last night while I was coasting off to sleep (currently listening to The Kingdom of God by Keith Moore) and got up this morning to have my time in the Word and had a great time with the guys this morning. I didn't necessarily get to bed as early as I had hoped and after my wife read the post last night, she raised an eyebrow in my direction and chuckled a little bit as she looked at the clock.
Nevertheless, I walked in overflow today. I walked in a greater revelation of the Kingdom. I had the opportunity to share with others today (at men's group and even with my boss over lunch) about the importance of keeping my Kingdom perspective. Colossians 3:1-2 that I listed yesterday came up a few times today when discussing this as well. In meeting with the guys we had a big discussion on forgiveness and I got a new revelation on the Kingdom in regards to forgiveness. As somebody operates with a Kingdom perspective, knowing how to operate in the Kingdom, this person will as a result be led to walk in forgiveness toward others as that is an operation of the Kingdom. Then all of the blessing that flows out of that is a direct correlation. The Kingdom is so key, really.
So, what is "overflow" you say? Our pastor teaches that all ministry flows out of the overflow of your personal walk with the Lord. Your ability to minister is in direct relation to your Word level within. You may be full and that is nice, but it is when your level is to overflowing where you see effective ministry.
On my way home from work today, I listened to one of my favorite songs these days, Heaven on Earth by David and Nicole Binion. I got introduced to it at the worship conference I attended this past summer and then we sang it a couple of times at the Men's retreat about a month ago. Wow, it's been a month since that retreat! What a great month it has been! Thank you Lord for your faithfulness and mercy. A loving Father you are to wait on me to step up to a next level and a loving Father waiting patiently for the next step as I grow in You.
Heaven on Earth by David and Nicole Binion
